Friends, family, police and even the New England Patriots celebrate the birthday of young cancer patient Danny Nickerson. Katel

(NECN) With the help of more than 100 first responders, Danny Nickerson celebrated his sixth birthday at the home of the New England Patriots.

"Cops for Kids With Cancer" helped set up the birthday bash at Foxboro's Gilette Stadium.

Danny is battling a rare and inoperable brain tumor. But Saturday, the focus was on fun and family.

"It's just incredible to take their time out from their lives and do something like this, especially for Danny," said the boy's godfather, Jeff Vendetti.

"It's a very tough disease this poor little kid has, and we all feel for him," said Boston Police Lt. David Murphy, a relative.

Officers brought more cards and gifts for Danny, who received more than 100,000 cards and packages this week.
