BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — There is now no official racketeering conviction attached to the name and record of the late Brownsville attorney, Ray Marchan.
As expected, a U.S. District Judge has overturned the conviction because Marchan's appeal was pending at the time of his death. Marchan leaped to his death from the Queen Isabella Causeway in late February. A trial jury had earlier found Marchan guilty of racketeering, extortion and mail fraud.
