BROWNSVILLE - According to officials from the city's public utilities board big plans are in the works for city resacas.

The goal of the project is to reduce flooding and provide an ample supply of water for the city. The project is expected to restore the city's resacas to their original depths along with restoring their profiles. Mayor Tony Martinez says PUB's project will help beautify the city and create jobs at the same time, "One operation you are probably looking at ten, twelve, maybe fourteen different jobs and then if you have more than one projects at any one time you could see forty to fifty jobs being created."

PUB Executive Officer John Bruciak stated, "We think if we can do it on a small and not a large scale at one time and phase into it over time we think we will be able to complete it over several years."
