President of UTPA being Considered for U.S. Secretary of Education

Another local leader could be working with President Elect Barack Obama.
The President of the University of Texas Pan American, Blandina Cardenas spoke in regards to her name being suggested for the U.S. Secretary of Education position in Obama's cabinet. Cardenas says she is honored to be considered for this position and believes she could serve this new administration .
She quoted, "Serving the Rio Grande Valley and UTPA fills my heart like nothing else in my life. All I want to do is keep working to see more of our young people graduate from college."
