President Obama Extneds Benefits to Gay/Lesbian Federal Workers

Gay and Lesbian federal workers now have some of the same benefits as their heterosexual colleagues.

President Obama signed a memorandum on Wednesday extending limited benefits to same sex partners of homosexual federal employees. He says federal law prevents him from granting other benefits like health care, but vowed to push for more changes. President Obama called the action long overdue and saying gay and lesbian federal workers have been denied basic rights because the people they love are of the same sex.
