BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — "I have to go everyday to work and this affects my life."said Brownsville Resident Valeria Salazar.
Salazar sent us these pictures of what Dockberry road near the intersection of Brownie road looks like.
Salazar says these potholes have damaged her vehicle.
"Some kind of problem with my tires, because the screws were getting out of the tires and mechanic told me if something would have happened that i would crash or something."
Newscenter 23 contacted Cameron County Commissioner Sofia Benavides Office.
Her precinct is responsible for this portion of Dockberry Road.
We explained the problem and asked her office to meet up at the site to try to find a solution.
We met with Deputy County Administrator David Garcia.
As we were out there county crews began filling the potholes with caliche.
Salazar says this is only a temporary fix.
"If the rain comes or something happens they are going to come out and get bigger."said Salazar.
We asked Garcia if more can be done.
"We are going look at it, and if it is in our budge, we are going to address the road this coming fiscal year, for now we are going to work on patching up certain areas of the road and take a look at it later in the year and see if it is holding up, and it not we will make a decision to fix it, reconstruct it, or do another patch job on it."said Garcia.
The county fiscal year starts on October 1st. Salazar is hoping they fix the road properly soon.
