A health science center and medical school are headed to the Valley.
Texas Governor Rick Perry signed a bill into law on Tuesday afternoon at the Regional Academic Health Center in Harlingen. Senator Eddie Lucio authored the bill to help create a permanent health fund for higher education in health related areas. Those funds will bring a main campus within the University of Texas system right here to the Rio Grande Valley.
That school is expected to bring 4,600 new jobs and bring in $1.3 to $1.5 million dollars a year. It's scheduled to be up and running in three years.
