Police Shoot Student Gunman
Texas officers kill 8th grader brandishing a gun.
A 15-year-old student was shot and killed after brandishing a gun at his Brownsville, Texas middle school Wednesday.
Police responded to Cummings Middle school after school personnel reported a student with a gun.
Police say school personnel told them a student was assaulting another student and noticed he had a weapon.
Police identified the suspect as 15 year old Jaime Gonzalez.
When police arrived they asked Gonzalez to put down the weapon repeatedly.
Officers say Gonzalez refused and pointed his weapon at them and was shot.
Police later determined the weapon Gonzalez was holding was a pellet pistol.
After being shot Gonzalez was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center, where he later died.
Brownsville police says the investigation continues with the help of Brownsville Indepedent School District police and the Texas rangers.
