Brownsville police would like to speak to a person of interest who may be linked to a case where a woman claims to have been assaulted.

The alleged incident happened back in mid December. Police say the victim and her alleged attacker were not strangers...

According to the victim, she and the man had previously met at her old job somewhere in the Southmost area, they lost touch, but had recently reconnected on the University of Texas-Brownsville campus."

She is a student and police believe he is too. Authorities say that a few weeks ago, the pair decided to meet up. The person of intrest came to pick the woman up from her job. She told police she thought they were going out to do something, but they never made it to their intended destination...instead, she was taken to another location where the assault occurred; that's according to the victim...now police would like to speak to him to get his side of the story.

"We believe that his first name might be Roberto and he might be driving a mid-size four door white colored vehicle." said Brownsville Police spokesman Eddie Garcia.

If you have any information on this incident or can help police locate this person of interest, you're urged to contact police or Brownsville Crime Stoppers, that number is 546-TIPS.
