Police Seek Roadway Shooter

Investigators release sketch of man who has fired shots at several cars in the Detroit area.

The number of cars that have been shot at by a mysterious gunman in Michigan now stands at 19.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said Monday the latest two reports over the weekend were from Perry, in Shiawassee County.

Other incidents have been reported in Oakland, Livingston and Ingham counties along Interstate 96.

Bouchard said a task force involving sheriff departments, Michigan State Police, Wixom police and the ATF is working the cases -- which isn't believed to involve a sniper.

"The word sniper kind of makes people think of somebody that is extremely skilled, typically uses a rifle for long distances. This is none of that. Thankfully, no one's been hit, injured or killed," Bouchard said. "This seems to be more random, all indications is that it's a handgun. This appears to be a host of different random circumstances and it appears to involve something less than a sniper-kind of skill set and a sniper weapon."

Bouchard said not all of the victims have reported seeing where the gunfire came from, but there have been similar descriptions of a black or dark colored sporty sedan driven by a white male in his 30s.

A sketch has been released from one of the incidents in Ingham County.

Walled Lake Consolidated Schools officials say students at schools in Wixom are having indoor recess, and schools' doors are locked on Monday.

They're not sure how long the precautionary measures will remain in effect.
