Police searching for suspects in Edinburg home invasion case
EDINBURG, TEXAS (NEWS CENTER 23) — Police say several individuals broke into a home with AK-47's and wearing SWAT shirts on Sunday morning and searching for drugs and money. The victims told police that after the individuals searched the home they only took at TV and a cell phone. Lt. Oscar Trevino says residents need to be aware that just because someone is dressed like SWAT or a police officer doesn't necessarily mean they are one, "That is why whenever we do serve search warrants with a SWAT team, we make sure we have marked police units available and in front of the residence. Also, we have uniformed officers that are present, that way the persons that we are executing the search warrant at are aware that this is actually the police that are coming in."
