Police Officer to Retire After 42 Years of Service
SULLIVAN CITY — After 42 years in law enforcement, Sullivan City police officer Joe Cantu has decided to retire from the force.
Officer Cantu has held several positions in law enforcement, including Chief of Police in San Juan and in East Texas, and for the La Joya police department. Cantu stated that the La Joya position was one of the most enjoyable because of the number of pursuits of attempting to capture human and drug smugglers.
Wednesday was the last day on the job for Cantu at the Sullivan Police department and he is looking forward to writing a book in his retirement years.
