Police Looking for Bank of America Burglar
Eduardo Ruiz went to Bank of America on Boca Chica Boulevard this morning thinking he would be in and out, just making an easy transaction. But as he was standing with the teller, the guy next to him pulled out a note demanding money and robbed the bank.
"The lady asked him for his card, the guy said I don't have one, then he asked him for his account number, he said I don't have one. And then I didn't pay much attention. The next thing I know, the guy is running out, the lady starts crying, 'We just got robbed.'," said Eduardo Ruiz, Witness.
Police received a call reporting a robbery occurring at 9:30 in the morning. But once they arrived on scene the man and a possible accomplice were gone.
Police said the alleged robber came in and robbed the bank without a weapon at all. In fact, patrons inside said they didn't even realize the bank was being robbed until the alleged suspect ran out of the building.
"Like about two, three minutes, it was quick, real quick," said Ruiz.
The man exited the bank and is believed to have gotten into a gray vehicle looking like an older Grand Prix.
The vehicle was last scene headed North on Old Port Isabel Road.
"He's said to be about 5' 7 to 5' 8, 160 to 170 pounds about 20 to 30 years of age with a goatee," said Eddie Garcia, Brownsville Public Information Officer.
An undetermined amount of cash was taken during the robbery. Witnesses said it all happened so fast they didn't even have time to react.
"I had no idea what was going on until the guy started running out, then I realized the guy next to me was robbing the bank ya know. It was something else," said Ruiz.
