Edinburg Police investigate the third homicide this year. This time, a drive-by shooting leaves 21-year-old Mario Badillo dead and his wife and family to mourn his death.
“He was a great person. He was trying to do everything he could do for us. Great father to my kids.”
On Saturday night, police were called out to a residence on Rebecca Street after gun shots were heard. When police arrived at the scene, officers found Badillo shot at multiple times. According to his wife, Angela Badillo, her husband was at a neighbor's house when she heard gun shots.
“I came out and asked what it was; he came in the door and yelled he had gotten shot.”
Badillo was transported to a nearby hospital where he died from his gunshot wounds. The widow tells us the shots weren't meant for her husband. He was just at the wrong place, and at the wrong time.
“He didn't deserve it. He always tried to stay out of everything. He didn't want anything to happen.”
