EDINBURG - The Barquera family is new to the Edinburg area and looking for a place to rent. Today they are on Toledo street looking at apartments.
"It's real calm actually it looks like a good neighborhood," said Victor Barquera.
But just last night, an apartment just a few homes over was raided for drugs.
After finding this out, the Barquera's became more skeptical of the area. "We are real concerned with that, I don't know what is going on it's a new city to us, we're from El Paso," said Barquera.
Edinburg police stopped a car with three men on McColl last night and after some questioning, things became suspicious.
"The officer also observed there were also some suitcases in the vehicle that no one wanted to claim ownership of," said Lt. Oscar Trevino, Edinburg Police.
Inside those suitcases, the officer found marijuana.
After finding those drugs in the car, the police decided to follow the drug trail. So they got a search warrant for the apartment complex on Toledo Street.
Inside they not only found marijuana, but also a gun and paraphernalia to sell drugs too.
Current neighbors didn't see anything last night, but aren't surprise by the news.
"Yes we are actually trying to find another place to live," said an anonymous neighbor.
Even the youngest member of the Barquera family is now questioning the neighborhood.
"She is my cousin, so yeah I am a little worried," said Barquera.
Police said the three suspects should be arraigned tomorrow.
