EDINBURG - Numerous 45 caliber bullet shells are all that's left after a drive by shooting this morning on 903 East University Avenue in Edinburg.  Around 10:30 a.m. police said a man pulled into the Aztec Car Care Center for a car wash, but before leaving his vehicle the unexpected happened.

"Two SUV showed up and approximately eight individuals exited these SUVs and opened fire on him," said Lt. Oscar Trevino, Edinburg Police Department.

After peppering his car with handguns, the tattoo covered gunmen fled in an unknown direction. Police said when they arrived on scene they found the victim alive in his car.

"There were no major injuries sustained, there were just minor cuts from the shattering of the glass when the bullets hit the windows," said Trevino.

With such minor injuries no medical attention was needed.

"The victim did not require any medical attention, he is currently at the Edinburg Police Department being interviewed by our investigators to get more information and get more details," said Trevino.

Over ten rounds were fired at the self-service station. The victim told police he believes that the men were gang related. But either way, right now police are trying to figure out the motive. They are not sure if these men were trying to send a message, or out to kill.

It's unknown which gang these shooters are associated with. They are asking for the public's help with finding the purple and gray SUVs. If you have any information, please call Edinburg Crime Stoppers at 383-8477.
