Two girls from Cesar Chavez Elementary in Pharr are packing their bags for the nation's capital.

Brianna Azuara and Amanda Chavez will head to Washington DC the week of July 4th.

They are presenting the results of their experiment on how mold from bread grows in space.

The pair will also head to Cape Canaveral in Florida in the fall to see their experiment launched into space.

"Not lots of kids get to have their experiment launched into space," Amanda said.

"This is like once in a lifetime, because we're representing the South and not many children or schools get chosen for this thing that we're doing," Brianna said.

The girls need help funding their trip. To donate to the trip, please contact Susana Ramirez at susana.ramirez@psjaisd.us or call her at 956-354-2000.
