Passing Train causes Several Small Fires along Railroad Tracks

MERCEDES - Fire Officials say, Several little fires along the railroad tracks in the Upper Valley, were sparked by a passing train.
The six grassfires happened in Mercedes, between the floodway and the mile two west, over a one mile stretch of land.
Fire officials say the train combined with the dry area ignited the flames.
The Mercedes Fire Department was called out, a little before one P-M and the flames were controlled in under an hour.
Weslaco Fire officials also helped out with the fire,
