Partnership to Create Jobs and Job Training to the Valley
McALLEN - A partnership between South Texas College and the Texas Workforce Commission is bringing jobs and job training to the Valley.
The Workforce Commission cut a check for more than $230,000 dollars to create 212 jobs for new and incumbent workers. Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. says that through this partnership areas across the Valley will be able to survive the plight of the economy, "The unemployment rate in Texas is high, here in the Valley it is even higher than that of the State of Texas. We are doing well compared to the nation, but we are still not doing as well as we should."
The two local businesses that have partnered up with the grant are Rio Grande Container Incorporated and Woodcrafters Home Products.
