A federal judge in Brownsville will decide who will review the controversy regarding the federal government taking over land for a border fence in the Valley.
A U.S. District Judge's decision is expected within weeks that could determine how much money landowners in the Valley will be given by the federal government. Private landowners along the Rio Grande will have a jury or a court appointed panel of land experts to decide their fate.
The first trials are set to begin in March and advocates for the property owners say the trials will be their first chance to make their case in a process, they say, has left many of them powerless.
