Over $5.5 million in narcotics seized, in one vehicle, at port of entry

U.S. Custom and Border Protection officers have seized both heroin and cocaine in one incident at a port of entry.

On Thursday, July 25th Custom officers, working the Anzalduas / Reynosa port of entry encountered a white 2011 Chrysler 200 driven by a 26 year-old male Mexican citizen.

Officers referred the driver and the vehicle to a secondary inspection where an imaging system indicated several suspicious packages concealed within the car.

The vehicle was searched and CBP officers found and removed 20 packages of heroin, weighing over 49 lbs., and 14 packages of cocaine, weighing over 38 lbs.

Officials estimate the street value of the heroin to be $4,469,000 and the cocaine at $1,237,000 for the combined total amount of $5,706,000 dollars.

The man was arrested and handed over to Homeland Security Investigators for questioning.
