Operation Drawbridge Receives More Funding

A quarter of a million dollars will be used to continue and expand Operation Drawbridge which installs and monitors motion detecting cameras on farms and ranches located near the Texas/Mexico border. Agricultural Commissioner Todd Staples along with other state and federal officials presented the Department of Public Safety with a $225,000 dollar grant. According to DPS, Operation Drawbridge has resulted in the arrest of about 4,000 undocumented immigrants and more than ten tons of illegal drugs since the start of the year.
