HIDALGO COUNTY - The third public hearing for redistricting in Hidalgo County took place Monday night. It had the best attendance yet compared to previous meetings, with almost 50 people in attendance.

Hidalgo County citizens were able to voice their opinion in the county precinct redistricting.

Every ten years, counties are required to redistrict to make sure population representation is balanced throughout the county.

Several members of the community brought up issues concerning urban versus rural areas, keeping cities in one precinct and school district lines.

"And I appreciate the people turning out because they care, they are concerned, and they are interested in what is happening."

Right now the maps are constantly changing with public opinion, but the county wants to vote on two final map options by September.

NG WILL BE IN WESLACO NEXT MONDAY AT 6 O'CLOCK. ///
