One killed, two injured, search for infant continues in Edinburg accident

UPDATE:

HIDALGO COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT. STATEMENT 10:39 A.M.

The Hidalgo County Sheriffs' Department has reported that on Sunday morning, June 2, a one call rollover was reported at a location north of FM 2812 on Seminary Road on a canal bank.

911 operators received multiple calls that there were two adult males, one adult female and a infant involved in the accident.

When deputies arrived, first responders were called to the scene and it was discovered that one adult male and the infant were not at the accident scene.

Officers report that family members were able to locate the one adult, the father of the child, who stated he could not remember leaving the scene of the accident with the child, but the mother stated she had given the child to the father as he left the scene.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene of the accident to do a search for the missing 2 month-old child and continue to question the father and mother.

The driver of the vehicle died and the mother is still recovering at a local hospital.

 

DPS STATEMENT 10 A.M.

The Department of Public Safety has reported the death of one person in a rollover accident in Edinburg.

Investigators report that on Sunday morning a vehicle veered off the roadway and overturned on Seminary Road near FM 2812 killing David Lopez, 21, from Edinburg and injuring two other occupants.

DPS officers continue to investigate the cause of the accident and have not released any additional information as of yet.
