Olympic Volleyball Instructor Host Training Camp

RIO GRANDE VALLEY — Local volleyball athletes are getting their own taste of the Olympics this week as international volleyball consultant and Olympic trainer Gylton Da Matta is hosting a one week camp. The athletes are being conditioned and trained the same as professional and Olympic athletes receive. Da Matta believes athletes need to stay up to date with the changing sport, "Yes, the most important thing is research, we need to invest in sports as a subject of research and we need to bring this research and directly apply in the benefit of the athletes." Da Matta plans to continue the camp because of it's prime location to train diverse international players.
