Olympic Park bomber Eric Rudolph is on a hunger strike in Colorado's Supermax prison to protest being moved to another area housing mentally ill inmates, his lawyer said Thursday.

Attorney William Bowen confirmed that he received a letter from his client on March 13 discussing the hunger strike, among other issues. The story was first reported by the Atlanta Journal Constitution Wednesday afternoon.

In the letter, Rudolph said that he felt like he was put in that section of the prison as retaliation for his autobiography and his political views.

Bowen would not reveal any more details about the letter, citing confidentiality.

Rudolph was arrested in 2003 and is serving four life sentences for the 1996 Olympic Park bombing, as well as other bombings in Atlanta and Birmingham.
