Police move in after protesters build bonfire and set up barricade.

Police and protesters clashed in Oakland, California, overnight.

Police in riot gear were called in after a group of the "Occupy Oakland" protesters lit a huge fire in the middle of the street and set up barricades.

Officers and rioters then lobbed tear gas canisters before police were able to clear out the street and put out the fire.

The clash came just hours after thousands of protesters shut down the Port of Oakland, which is one of the nation's busiest shipping ports.

Dozens of people were taken into custody.

There is still no word on how many will face charges.
