There will be changes to McAllen's annual New Year's Eve bash.

The city has decided to move the party from downtown to the McAllen Convention Center.
A local marketing firm will now be taking over the event saving the city some money.
The new location should alleviate traffic and parking hassles experienced in the downtown area.
A free party open to the public outside of the convention center and a more formal dinner inside is in the works.

The city has held the New Year's Eve bash downtown for the last four years.
An average of 15,000 to 25,000 people attend the event each year.
