McALLEN - Local nurses united in McAllen on Thursday afternoon to protest conditions at Rio Grande Regional Hospital.

The nurse's frustrations go back to August of this year and now they say management still hasn't taken any action. Organizers spent the day gathering signatures for a petition against the hospital. The nurses say the building has mold and sewer leaks in several areas causing many nurses to resign. They also claim nurses treat up to seven patients at a time when the national average is three. They say patients aren't getting the care they need, "We need a change we've been stressing this for months. Almost a year since we've been in negotiations. They just don't listen at all, we need them to listen to us."

Over eighty complaints have been filed against the hospital within the last year and negotiations are ongoing, no word yet if the two are close to an agreement.
