More than 180 teachers in Brownsville will resign early due to the incentives offered by the Brownsville Independent School District.

B.I.S.D. is willing to pay up to $10,000 dollars per teacher in an effort to save on their salaries. Like many districts across the state, the Brownsville I.S.D. is facing up to $30 million dollars in budget cuts. The district says, it wants to offer an incentive rather than just lay off staff members. District officials say several teachers plan to retire, start a business or go back to school with the money.
