Number of Illegal Immigrants Entering U.S. Drops
New data shows the number of illegal immigrants entering the United States dropped dramatically over the past decade.
An average of 850,000 immigrants illegally entered the country every year between the years of 2000 to 2005 and that number dropped to 300,000 annually between the years of 2007 to 2009 for the Pew Hispanic Center. Virginia, Florida and Nevada are among the states with the biggest drops in their population of illegal immigrants. Researchers site the recession of immigrants coming to the U.S. is a lack of jobs and increased scrutiny of immigrants.
