No bond for mom accused of murder

Oregon mother accused of stabbing 2-year-old to death and severely wounding teen will remain in jail. Mark Hanrahan reports.

(KGW) An Oregon mother involved in a volatile divorce and accused of murdering her 2-year-old daughter and critically injuring her teen the day she was to turn them over to their father was in court Monday.

Jessica Smith sat with a blank stare on her face as she was formally charged with aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder. She appeared disheveled, did not speak, and wore a yellow jail-issued jumpsuit.

Last Friday, a hotel housekeeper found the Smiths' 2-year-old daughter Isabella dead inside a room at the Surfsand Resort in Cannon Beach. The couple's 13-year-old daughter was also in the room, suffering from critical slashing wounds, but alive, police said.
