Nikki Rowe student wins congressional art competition
McAllen, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — A Nikki Rowe high school student had been named the winner of a congressional art competition.
Congressman Ruben Hinojosa announced that Abrahan Bautista's art piece, titled "Feel the Music", won first place in the 2013 Artistic Discovery Competition for Texas' 15th Congressional District.
Abraham's art piece is a mixed media work of art depicting the first chair trumpet player, in the Rowe band, playing his instrument surrounded by music.
The art piece will be displayed in the U.S. Capital for one year and Bautista will fly to Washington, D.C. for a national reception.
