Newtown votes to fund new Sandy Hook school

Hartford-New Haven, CT — Residents in Newtown, Connecticut voted overwhelming on Saturday to tear down the Sandy Hook Elementary school and replace it.
The building is expected to be demolished in the near future, before the 1 year anniversary of the mass shooting that killed 20 students and six adults.
Town officials hope replacing the school will help the town move forward after the tragedy.
Saturday's referendum asked voters to approve the overall $50 million dollar project.
Plans for the new school are in progress and officials are hoping to have the news school re-open in January 2016.
