The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College have officially launched the UTeach Brownsville program.

The program, offered in the College of Science, Mathematics and Technology, will allow students to receive teacher certification while earning a degree in mathematics or science.

This nationally acclaimed program was developed at The University of Texas at Austin and has been replicated at 30 universities throughout the country.

“UTeach is an innovative teacher preparation program, and we are looking for students who want to teach or add another option to their mathematics or science degree,” said Dr. Roger Contreras, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and program co-director. “We want to increase the pool of the next generation of mathematics and science teachers.”
