Scientist in the Valley have discovered a new species of cricket.

The new species of tree crickets was discovered by entomologist at the Resaca de la Palma State Park and World Birding Center in Brownsville. Researchers heard a cricket singing and the rare tune lead them to the discovery. They named it Alexander in honor of R.D. Alexander, who first discovered the species in Mexico back in the 1960's.
