HARLINGEN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — The Valley is home to many displaced veterans who are in need of some assistance to get their lives back in order. A new Harlingen-based organization called "Family Endeavors" aims to help vets and their families do just that.
"Family Endeavors" works case by case to help veterans regain a life of stability.
But, in order for the organization to help a veteran, they must be low-income and have completed one stint of active duty.
The non-profit stresses that the assistance won't be forever - just until vets can get back on their feet and help themselves reintegrate into society.
"We work with veterans who are currently homeless, facing eviction or transitioning from an institution within the past 90 days," said Family Endeavors outreach/intake specialist Iris Quintanilla. "Basically, what we do, we made assist the veterans with utilities and rent and may provide a gas card depending on their situation. You may need assistance this month, but next month you may not need it."
If you know of a veteran that needs some help, call Family Endeavors at 956 364 9705 to see if they meet the qualifications for assistance.
