It’s a story that has touched all ages and all places.

“I have been a Harry Potter fan since I was in the fifth grade,” says 22-year-old Gustavo Elizondo.

This weekend marks the closing of a chapter and the turning of a page for the Harry Potter series as the final movie is set to premiere nationwide. While the movies may be complete the impact of the books is still evident. According to UTB English Professor Dr. Dominguez, Harry Potter novels have inspired her students in a positive way.

“Reluctant readers and hesitant readers were all of a sudden starting to read because of these books,” says Dr. Dominguez

However, with the Harry Potter series all but finished Dr. Dominguez says it is necessary that a new author or book comes along to inspire a younger generation of potential readers.

“What she [J.K. Rowling] did was sort of bring back reading,” says Dr. Dominguez. “It would concern me if something doesn’t come along that would fill that void.”

For Gustavo Elizondo the Harry Potter novels helped bring about his love for reading.

“For me and most of my friends it definitely sparked our interest in reading as we grew up,” says Elizondo.

At least for now, Elizondo and fans have one final movie before the story is complete.
