New Details In Standoff Between Brownsville PD and Teen

On the 3-thousand block police have taken into custody a juvenile who was holding a handgun during a standoff.

Brownsville police say the standoff started after police went to the teen's home to arrest him on the a juvenile warrant.
Police say he wasn't at the home and they began searching for him and found by the levee. There police say he was holding a .380 caliber handgun.
Judy Chavez who has two young children lives near where the teen was with the gun.

"Anything can happen he can hurt himself and even his own people, he is a kid with a handgun."

A standoff lasted with teen and Brownsville swat team for about two hours putting two nearby schools on lockdown. The standoff came to an end around 4 pm.

"Negotiators did there job they were able to talk him down, he was taken into custody without incident."

It's still unknown where 17 year old got the handgun. Police say he will be tried as adult for charges stemming from Wednesday's incident.
