ROMA - The community center was a buzz today in Roma as law enforcement officials celebrated a beginning.

"Well today we are here in Roma to open up the fourth partnership location between the U.S. Border Patrol and the community," said Chief Rosendo Hinojosa.

It's a partnership between Border Patrol, Starr Sheriff's Office and Roma Police. These entities hope to bring down the levels of illegal activity.

"Unfortunately this is one of the hot spots in the city where we have a lot of crossings," said Capt. Francisco Garcia, Roma Police.

Crossing of illegal immigrants and this is why the Roma city mayor is happy his city was chosen as a partnership location.

"Of course a lot of time we are overlooked, population density isn't as high as Hidalgo county or Cameron county, but this is the favorite drug smuggling route for many people along the border," said Jose Guerra Jr., Roma Mayor.

So securing the area and having a continual law enforcement presence should help. But the partnership is more than just a bond, it's a community storefront.
