The town of Laguna Vista has a new City Manager.

This comes after their previous City Manager was fired. Rolando Vela is the second City Manager for the Town of Laguna Vista. The first one, Iris Hill was fired. Residents in the quiet community of Laguna Vista weren't exactly quiet late last year, when former City Manager, Iris Hill was let go. Board of Alderman members held a meeting, where residents could speak out. Many in the community supported Hill, but city leaders decided it was best to fire her. Now they've hired Rolando Vela. Vela says he's optimistic about moving forward, and the controversy with Hill doesn't have anything to do with him. Vela brings nearly eight years of city management experience, working both in San Benito and Alamo. He previously held a public affairs job with Time Warner Cable. Vela says he's currently working on some big projects for Laguna Vista, and he's enjoying working with town residents.
