Nearly $500,000 of cocaine seized at port of entry
BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Custom and Border Protection officers have seized nearly half a million dollars in cocaine at a port of entry.
On Tuesday, April 23, a male Mexican citizen, 19, driving a Ford Taurus, approached the Gateway International bridge and was referred to a secondary examination.
CBP officers discovered six packages,of approximately 14 pounds of cocaine, hidden within the vehicle. The alleged cocaine from the seizure is estimated at a street value of approximately $467,200.
CBP officers turned the driver over to U.S. Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation and officers seized the narcotics and the vehicle.
