Nearly $2M of cocaine seized at Pharr port of entry

Officers with Customs and Border Protection intercepted several bundles of cocaine in a foiled smuggling attempt by a Mexican citizen.

On Saturday, August 31st at mid-day CBP officers came into contact with the driver of a silver 2000 Toyota Sienna van driven by a 32 year-old man at the Pharr-Reynosa port of entry.

The driver was sent to a secondary inspection where a imaging system detected packages hidden within the vehicle.

During the search of vehicle officers removed 26 packages of alleged cocaine weighing over 58 pounds and estimated at $1,871,000.

The driver was arrested and handed over into the custody of Homeland Security investigators for further questioning.
