More than 4,000 pounds of drugs were seized over the weekend by Border Patrol agents.

Near La Joya, agents encountered a suspicious vehicle near the Rio Grande river. Agents report the suspected smuggler spotted the approaching agents and attempted to get away. In doing so, he lost control of the vehicle causing it to rollover.

In a second incident agents found another vehicle near the river with numerous bundles of marijuana inside it. Agents had reported spotting 20 individuals fleeing back to Mexico in rafts and a boat on that same day of the discovery of the abandoned vehicle.
