Firefighters from around the globe kick off motorcycle journey honoring 9/11 victims.

On Tuesday hundreds of bikers started out from Chicago on their way to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C. and eventually New York City.

Their ride is a moving memorial to those who lost their lives on September 11th.

Firefighter Jeff Story came from Seattle, Washington.

It is the bond of the fire service that drew the riders to Chicago.

Rod Johnson came all the way from Scotland.

Lt. Tom Maloney of the Chicago Fire Department was among the first to arrive in New York to help dig out the rubble at Ground Zero.

He now organizes the annual ride back.

About 200 riders pulled out of Chicago on the first leg of what will be an almost 1,000 mile journey.

Thousands more are expected to join along the way.
