Mother in custody after allegedly killing her newborn baby
San Antonio, TX — A San Antonio mother was arrested Tuesday for allegedly killing her own baby.
The baby was found at a Waste Management complex earlier this month.
Once in custody, Nidia Alvarado admitted to trying to abort the baby and when that didn't work she allegedly strangled him after he was born.
Sgt. Javier Salazar, San Antonio Police Dept., "It appears that the suspect gave birth to the baby. She gave a fictitious name at the hospital when she did give birth. Detectives were able to find out her true identity and tracked her down just through some really good detective work"
Alvardo is being held on $2 million dollar bond, she has two other children who were handed over to Child Protective Services when she was arrested.
