Arlett Cano was arrested by Brownsville police for one count of injury to a child after school officials reported that her daughter attended school with markings on her body.

Authorities say the 9 year-old girl had red marks from her wrist to her shoulder. The child was removed from the home and staying with a family relative as Child Protective Services investigates into the case.
