Monkey on the Loose
Loose monkey in Ohio scratches two girls before finally being caught.
Fremont police say one family kept the monkey as a pet.
When the monkey freed itself it ran away, neighbor Tim Rakay saw first hand what happened next.
"When I seen him chasing, I took her running, he jumped on her head and knocked her over," said Rakay.
Rakay says the monkey got away again.
"Well I kept asking her if she was all right, she had her head covered with her hands then she said I'm okay but she was screaming," Rakay explained.
Police Chief Tim Wiersma of the Fremont Police says officers chased the monkey for about three hours shooting as it twice as the primate came toward the police station.
The owner caught the monkey and has him at home.
Wiersma said two girls around nine years old suffered scratches and should be okay.
"Everybody has the right to have whatever they want I suppose, they would say but the neighbors also have the right to be safe," said Wiersma.
Wiersma said he'd like to see some sort of exotic animals law put in place while Rakay wants to see the monkey put down.
"I don't think people need monkeys here, that's just stupid." Rakay said.
