A Mission woman is in police custody after allegedly filing a false report about a carjacking.

Officials say Clarissa Lopez reported her SUV stolen at gunpoint, but investigators later found out that she made it up.

The vehicle was lent out to a friend and it did end up being stolen. Mission police have already dealt with a pair of false reports this year.

They'd like it to stop especially since Lopez's story unraveled after checking security video as Mission Police officer Manny Casas states, "She gave the hour and everything, you go through the video and that's not there. There's cases that are more and more important than others, that need to get looked at right away."

Why Lopez and her husband gave a false report when their SUV was actually stolen is not yet known.
