Francisco Javier Gonzalez is facing first-degree murder charges.

Police say the Mission native drove a truck over Jonathan Ramos in 2011.  Ramos later died from the injuries from the incident.

Gonzalez fled the country, and was caught trying to reenter the United States on Monday.

"He told me that he didn't know about the charges, he just crossed from Mexico, and this is the first he's heard of it," said Judge Bobby Contreras, who presided over Tuesday's arraignment. "And I just advised him that he will be talking to another judge regarding this. I'm just here to set bond on him."

Bond was set at $1 million.  According to court documents, several witnesses say they saw Gonzalez commit the crime that night.
